SPEEDSKATERS

How To Perform Speedskaters

Speedskaters are an amazing drill to add into your routine to increase your heart rate, improve athletic ability & agility, and work both the glutes & legs!

Level/Difficulty: Intermediate To Advanced

Muscle Group(s): quads, glutes, hamstrings, core

Equipment: none

Exercise groups: Lower Body Exercises, Full Body Exercises, Lower Body Exercises, Core Strengthening Exercises, Upper Body Exercises, Posture Strengthening Exercises

Coaching Cues:
Jump laterally, absorb bodyweight lightly by bending knees to push back to the other side

Before starting:

Bending the knee will allow more control upon landing on each side.

  1. Start on one side of your exercise area and prepare to leap/jump by bending that knee and positioning your arms (e.g. bend right knee, chest tall, left arm in front, right arm behind)

  2. Jump laterally from that side to land on the other leg, bending that knee to absorb your bodyweight.

  3. Push off this leg to jump back to the initial starting point, with the arms continuing to follow.

  4. Continue to alternate to perform the desired amount of reps.
