Address Postural Alignment, Manage Pain & Improve Performance with Exercise Therapy

What is Exercise Therapy?

Human movement involves addressessing the physiological, biomechanical, and psychological dynamic principles and mechanisms of movement. This includes biomechanics, orthopedics, strength and conditioning, sport psychology, motor control and physical/occupational therapy, sport and exercise physiology. An exercise therapist is a movement specialist that is regulated by a governing body (just like physicians and physiotherapists), and provides support in the above mentioned areas, as well as in sport performance, weight loss, coaching, and nutrition.

An exercise therapist can assess your lifestyle and prescribe evidence-based exercise therapy for improving your health and performance. Exercise therapists provide you with education around your limitations so that you can still be active without aggravation.

Exercise therapists have at least a four-year university degree and are regulated health professionals, with the primary duty to protect the public and ensure high standards of professionalism, privacy and confidentiality.

FitFx Training Exercise Therapy Services:

An exercise therapist is a health professional that specializes in physical activity and rehabilitation. Exercise Therapy services include the active exercise that ensures functional progression, injury management, self mobilization and education around your condition(s).

An exercise therapist is an ally to western medicine to prevent and treat common health conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis and cancer. The benefits of using exercise to manage these conditions can also improve one’s fitness, cardiovascular health, biomechanics and performance.

Your appropriate exercise prescription first involves the intake and assessment of your health history and movement patterns to determine your needs and meet them with your goals. Pain management and physical limitations are addressed while promoting functional movement and breathing patterns to help return you to your daily and/or leisure activities.

Initial Assessment

Intake forms and health history is reviewed to understand you and your needs, in-depth. A functional movement screen is performed over video conference, where possible restrictions in movement can be determined. An initial exercise prescription is provided based on examination results, and a plan is outlined using that prescription to reach your health and lifestyle goals.

Recurring Sessions

The amount and frequency of recurring sessions are dependent upon the initial assessment, needs and goals of the client. Reviewing exercises, coaching, personal training, and additional or progressive homework are provided using the FitFx Training Exercise Database. Detailed exercise tutorials are linked to your program via the FitFx Training YouTube channel.

Re-assessments

Measurable outcomes are important to observe progression and improvements made, as well as examining future needs and goals of the client. Re-assessments can occur at predetermined stages of the rehabilitation/training process.
